What does the University of Alabama BOT have to do with the SEC?
For the better part of 20 years I don't think UAB had enough alumni in existence to fill Legion Field. According to their alumni society's website UAB only now has 118,000 living alumni spread across the world. UABs most successful alumni are the type of who people who are more likely to help pay for a stadium so they can have a suite than they are to go to Legion Field for a game. And by the way, yes UAB had buyers for every suite planned for their stadium

My dentist is an AU/UAB grad - is a huge AU football fan who spends thousands each fall to set up a kick arse tailgate in Auburn on football Saturdays.
One of my fraternity brothers, is a UA/UAB grad -he's a doctor in a small town he owns a house on campus just for football weekends in Tuscaloosa. Said he never attended the first UAB sporting even while he was a UAB student and has no interest whatsoever now.

You said they had pledges to "virtually pay" for the stadium. I assume you looked it up and realized you were incorrect. Of course this glaring fact will make no difference in what you want to believe
