frick Directv. I finally fired them a month ago due to high pricing and extremely shitty customer service.
Actually getting them cut off service was a nightmare. Took 3 days of constant calling to get them to acknowledge that no adjustment would be acceptable and they needed to frick right off and let me change.

Had a similar issue fairly recently with Direct.
My contract was up and I called and asked for some discounts or rate decreases (b/c switching is a PITA) and was told no. Seeing as how my contract was up and I was month-to-month, I went to Dish and got a huge rate decrease.
When I called to cancel Direct, they were offering me everything under the sun, and my response was pretty much you had your chance, I've already scheduled the install. They called me for weeks afterward asking to switch back, which is insane since it would cost me like $300 to get out of my Dish contract.
