No. Bama has wanted rid of Grant forever and that's been no secret. Folks forget that Grant was a homerun hire when he was hired and Bama shelled out a lot of cash to get him. I wouldn't be surprised at all to learn that his buyout dropped substantially this year and that gave Bama the ability to fire without getting hosed too badly on any buyout.

The coaching pool is much deeper now than when Grant was hired. Look at who gtech hired that year.
