The only schools that can 'sell' their history to recruits are UCLA, Kansas, Indiana, Kentucky, UNC, and Duke (maybe Syracuse?).

If there's a recruit who wants to stay close to home, but may not have an offer from a school like the ones you listed - a school being able to point to their being among the tops in the conference in all time wins, championships, and tournament appearances could be an important factor.
