Man what a shitshow so far
I'm just wondering who BB will have to overpay to get now
You see the way Texas did it Bill? Leak that you won't pay over a certain amount, then leak that your candidates are as high as the moon (Avery Johnson, NBA coaching caliber) and when Shaka calls to say he's interested (and he was fricking BEEEEGGING to get out of VCU) snag him quickly

I'd be on the MFing red eye out to VCU offering Shaka the same exact contract if I were Battle, hell maybe even 4.5M

I'm disappointed that we didn't get Marshall, but that is nothing compared to how I feel about how this whole thing has been handled. I have zero confidence in Battle.

I disagree. I think anyone could have seen this coming two years ago.
Seen what, Grant sucking? It was obvious 4-5 yrs ago he was no good, yet he was given more money and an extension from the previous AD.
Battle was in his first full bball season, and Grant still had a large buyout. Grant also had his best chance this last year to show what his players and his coaching could do. As I said, no other AD in the country fires Grant under the same circumstances.

can't imagine how someone as smart as Bill Battle got played like this....one thing is for sure, someone had to be totally dishonest with him to put us out there like that...maybe it was Marshall or maybe it was his agent but karma is a bitch

Sounds like Battle got absolutely played. Kind of obvious when you look back on a few things.
Sucks because as you said, it sounds like Marshall and his agent flat out lied to us. People on our side were extremely confident and that confidence didn't just come out of nowhere.
That said, we are paying Bill Battle to be the expert in things like this and to not get fricking owned in a negotiation.

The UKs, UNCs, Kansas, UCLAs, Arionas, Floridas, etc would laugh at this dude if he pulled this kind of shite and not making a move within a week or so with the offer on the table...they wouldve moved on to the next candidate.

but he hired SABAN!!
Mal also was the one who hired Grant and then when it was obvious he sucked, he gave him a nice raise and extension.
