Those from the streets, those from the trailer parks, those from the tidy but lower class neighborhoods, I know from experience they're not as dumb as often portrayed despite a great many being exactly as dumb as portrayed (though many are undereducated they aren't morons and many are still quite smart even if they have a ways to go in catching up with formal education, tho some are flat out smart and caught up despite going to a bad school). In contrast, I've also taught a lot of rich kids from the best private schools who were just as dumb as the dumbest underprivileged rural poor and/or urbanite regardless of color and the ones who came from good prep schools shocked me because they went to the best schools and many had fantastic ACTs/SATs but they'd been taught to test not to think. I've also seen brilliant students from bad backgrounds as well as good ones so I try to keep I try to keep an open mind about it all and give folks the benefit of the doubt until they prove themselves retarded/stoooooopid.

Really K-12 education simply blows right now. It doesn't matter if it's public or private; American schools, outside of a few that still serve to educate which is much harder work, they teach to standardized tests and it shows up big time in college when a kid doesn't know how to write a paper because they've never been taught or is painfully behind the curve in critical thinking skills. Private and public schools alike are rewarded for high standardized scores in different but very important ways and have less incentive to actually educate than they did years before standardized testing became the end all be all.
