I'm on my phone right now so I'm not gonna try to look it up, but I'd be curious to see their Freshman stats side by side. They both shared carries with others. Gurley had Murray slinging the ball around so he might not have had as many touches. But Chubb ran against a stacked box and only started 8-9 games.

No matter what you look at, there's probably no fair comparisons, just opinions.

It's probably six of one a half dozen of the other. It's like comparing the Victoria Secret models, they may not all look the same on the runway but they would all get their fair share of toting these rocks.

Agree! And I've never been down on chubb, I have nothing but great things to say about him and will reiterate that he has a very legit shot at a Heisman in his future. My only argument is and has always been that I don't think he's as good as gurley. Both they are both fantastic.

Gurley:
Rush- 222 for 1385 (6.2), 17 TDs
Rec- 16 for 117 (7.3), 0 TDs
Ret- 7 for 243 (34.7), 1 TD

Chubb:
Rush- 219 for 1547 (7.1), 14 TDs
Rec- 18 for 213 (11.8), 2 TDs

Also I'm bored as nails so just for fun I looked up rushing defense numbers for both, excluding tomato cans like the buffalos and FAUs. Granted this ignores the pass defense on their receptions, but that stat would be insignificant to the data.

Gurley:

missouri- 49 (149)
Vandy- 38 (142)
UT- 85 (189)
SC- 17 (121)
UK- 62 (161)
UF- 4 (95)
OM- 25 (129)
AU- 97 (198)
GT- 41 (144)
Bama- 1 (76)
Nebraska- 90 (193)

Chubb:

Clemson- 5 (103)
SC- 105 (212)
UT- 65 (168)
vandy- 86 (184)
missouri- 27 (134)
ark- 12 (115)
uf- 13 (116)
uk- 89 (191)
au- 67 (169)
gt- 62 (168)
ul- 10 (109)

Numbers against the top 5 rush defenses each faced. And for the sake of an honest assessment, I'm not including clemson for chubb, since he only got 4 carries that game and was not the primary runner.

Gurley (bama, uf, sc, om, van), average of 17th best rush D, giving up 113/game

97 for 526 105 per game (5.4), 5 TD

Chubb (ul, ark, uf, miz, gt), average of 25th best rush D, giving up 128/game

147 for 896 179 per game (6.0), 6 TD
