In 2014, your statement would have been the above statement but replaced 6 with 5.

Now, the 5 is replaced with 4.

You can compare the numbers all you want, but we're still talking about actual losses. He hasn't had a season wiht less than 4 losses, fact. 4 losses is not a good season, is it?

Any negative on Freeze is premature and downright dumb AF right now.

It's been 3 years, not 1. And the thread was asking others how good is he. I never said he sucks and is the worst coach I've ever seen. If 3 years isn't long enough to evaluate a coach, when is? 5 years, 10? Or is it when they finally have a breakthrough season that enough time has passed?

Ummm, Vandy was a top 25 team with 9 wins

they're still vanderbilt football. they shouldn't beat real SEC teams, just like UK basketball shouldnt' ever lose to SC basketball.

quote:

We lost on last second plays against A&M, Vandy, and lost to LSU because of a botched punt.

ok? And? Hell if it weren't for the last FSU drive we'd be national champs right?

quote:

We could have been 10-3

yet real life shows that you actually did go 7-6.

quote:

losing on a last second play to a&m again. A play away from potentially beating @AU

most of what you're saying is a hell of a lot of "we almost"s.

quote:

Year three and ranked as high as #3. Beat two #1 teams

I have, in this thread, said that ole miss looked like a CFP contender early on, and were one of the most surprising teams in the country.

quote:

lost by 3 @LSU, lost on a freak play to AU,

more "almost"s

quote:

If you're basing your 6.5/10 off what he has done thus far, you're a fricking idiot...and that's probably putting it extremely lightly.

I'll ask again, what is the standard accepted baseline for when we're allowed to evaluate coaches, when you say so? 3 years is ample time.

And in fact, based on what has already been said and the fact he hasn't finished better than 3rd in his division, I think a ranking bordering on 7/10 is pretty generous.

I think considering what he inherited and where he is coaching, he has done a tremendous job.

His on-field coaching (specifically, offensive play calling), must get better. He runs a good program though and anyone with a brain can see that.

You thinking 7.0 is generous is laughable.

Also, you just got onto me about the "coulda, woulda, shoulda" BS and pull that line about Florida State out of your arse

At least Hugh is moving forwards and not backwards. The Gus Bus is in reverse.

I get what you are saying and all, but I just wanted to throw this out there:

Vanderbilt vs. Auburn: 21-20-1

Real SEC teams and all.

Which have decreased every year, while Gus's have more than doubled every year. Freeze said the goal was to make a bowl game in Year 3...we were primed for the college playoffs if the injuries didn't happen.

Actually, it's quite fricking simple, dinglehead. Once the coach has a full team of his recruited/developed players. aka Houston Nutt. Looked like a great coach with Orgeron's players...his recruited players were questionable as D1 athletes.

This is your problem. This is how I know you're a dumb, bandwagon riding fan.Funny you say this, but probably thought Pearl was going to change AU's program.

quote:

ok? And? Hell if it weren't for the last FSU drive we'd be national champs right?

Are you really that dense to realize that I was referencing our extreme lack of depth and that all these games we win if we had any D1 athletes past our 1-deep?

quote:

yet real life shows that you actually did go 7-6.

Correct. Real life also shows AU had 5(6) losses this year.

quote:

most of what you're saying is a hell of a lot of "we almost"s.

Again...are you that dense to catch my point? We almost did a lot of things, but our decimated team that Freeze took over had zero depth. It's as simple as that. We're building depth. Ole Miss will win the SEC before Shea Patterson goes to the NFL.

Let's bring this back to Pearl and the doormat program of AU basketball. If Pearl had y'all at #3 in the conference next year, what would you rank him?
