The following is just to clarify to people the difference between a service and therapy dog:

Just to reiterate, a service dog is not the same as a therapy dog.

Service dogs help the physically disabled get through everyday life as being their, eyes, ears and helping them with tasks.

A therapy dog is something that any one of us can go to a psychiatrist and get a "therapy dog treatment" exemption. Any dog can be a therapy dog if you feel it provides you comfort. On the bad side of this, many people do this as ways to get around the "no dog's" policy. I know of a woman who did this so that she can take her dog to restaurants, on the plane in her lap, etc. as she likes to show everyone "how cute he is!". No I am not a friend of the woman I am talking about as it pisses me off.

This woman almost 99.9999% is in the case of the dog being a genuine source of comfort to her which helps her mentally deal with day to day life. I just was tired of hearing about using the two types of dogs being used interchangeably.
