The best would be to go back to 32 teams and do double elimination the first weekend till you get to the Sweet Sixteen or Elite Eight.
#1 Eliminates the early blowout games of top teams obliterating the tiny ones.
#2 Keeps the fans engaged the whole weekend. If your team loses the first night you are usually stuck with a 4 night deal at an overpriced NCAA sanctioned hotel. This way you get to see your team play at least twice and against foes more worthy of a 100 dollar ticket.
#3 Smaller field means putting importance back on winning games in the regular season.
#4 Better early round games means fuller arenas and happier advertisers.

quote:interesting. that would alleviate fluke games but, i suppose someone could say that with the current format, every possession is precious. therefore, don't squander any games.

also, 350 teams in the division but only 32 teams in the tourney seems disproportionate. i would like to see the division reduced. 350 teams is ridiculous. then 32 would be more acceptable
