Actually these organizations voted LSU #1 following the 2011 season:
Congrove Computer Rankings
GBE College Football Ratings
Hogan Poll
James Howell
Nutshell Sports Football Ratings
Rogers Poll
Seattle Times
So technically it's only been 3 years since LSU's last national championship in football.
I mean, it's open season and there's no limit now, right?
