He got tossed tonight, by NCAA rule he has to sit out 1 extra game.
Yea but what did he get tossed for? I was down the third base line so I didn't see the lead up to the extended conversation with Holbrook and initially thought he had thrown out Holbrook

Arguing balls & strikes. Really annoying how they gave no warning before tossing someone. Like umps do 99% of the time.

Confirmed by Carolinas twitter that Widener will start tonight.

More bad news, Caldwell was ruled out earlier today at about 5:30ish but did take BP. Also, Schrock may not be able to play as well tonight, did not take BP due to him reinjuring his wrist/hand. Which was why he was taken out of the game in the 8th inning last night.
ETA: Caldwell has apparently talked his way into the lineup.

Welp, pretty sure you can say goodbye to the postseason streak. Unless we somehow win the SEC Tourney.

Well I think we definitely got the best day 1 matchup against Mizzou. They have really struggled as of late, losing 12 out of their last 15.

I think they got the best day 1 actually, considering it's the SEC tourney and we're South Carolina.
Then again, this is rare territory for us. Is there any way of us making the NCAA tourney without winning the SEC tourney?

Touche.

I have heard that maybe 3 or 4 wins might get us in, but I'd think we'd probably need to win it all.

If we start trying to figure out the bare-knuckled minimum to scrape by and get into the NCAAs, then we're already out of it all. That's the situation you try not to get your program into year after year, but what we now find ourselves into.
Best just to win the whole tournament and then make the NCAAs tell us no. But I doubt that happens: we've always had the formula of saying "frick YOU SECT!", but that was under Tanner. The boys know this is a win or go home deal for them now.
I'm concerned with pitching Wynkoop on 5 days' rest, and really all our starting pitching now will be on short rest, and there has been very little signs of ballsy fortitude from them the whole season....

I guess the team figured that needing to win the SECT was waaay too tough a task, and decided why bother wasting so much time in hotel rooms in Hoover. This way, they can be back in Columbia by supper time or at least in time for a late pizza run.
A weak, feeble, gasping end to a pathetic season. At least Wynkoop played his heart out, but he was probably doing it with visions of the MLB draft in his head. The rest of the team is still in SC.
Bring 'em on home, Chad. Your work is done.....

Off the top of my head we were 59-54 in football, basketball, and baseball combined with 1 post-season win.
Well, at least there were no losing records and our basketball is actually on the upswing.

Burn it with fire and let us never speak of this season again.

I just...I don't know.
It's May.
The offseason is literally longer now.

One of the worst seasons for USC sports since I've been around the university ('03). Just a putrid, awful showing.
Dawn's ladies were the sole bright spot, and I actually found myself watching women's basketball. Next thing you know...

Read over on Cockytalk that Jordan Gore and Logan Koch were cut from the team, and are transferring to Landon Powell's North Greenville program. I guess the staff are making room for the incoming JUCOs, and getting rid of the dead weight. Probably aren't the only cuts we'll see this off-season, while other fanbases watch their teams play in the post-season....

CofC ended up winning today in walkoff fashion. And former Gamecock pitcher Curt Britt got the start for NC State today in their game against Stony Brook.
Great to see him do well.
