Did you know that Ben Jones (played Cooter on the Dukes TV show and also a former US House member from Georgia) is a lifetime member of both the Sons of Confederate Veterans and NAACP?

Most Southern states were already celebrating Robert E Lee's birthday when the MLK Day legislation came down the pike. Many states initially combined them, but some kept separate days. In those states where they celebrated both, state employees had to choose which one to take off. They couldn't take both.

I'm almost positive Arkansas was one of those states, but I guess they changed that practice at some point.

At any rate, Arizona as we all know was the last state to recognize MLK Day.
