Why is Portland listed in the Southern region and Charlotte in the West

I ask because I think you'd see some solid support for UGA if they could open in Charlotte

His bracketology is all based on an "S-Curve". There's no reason to try to pick actual locations for schools this early in the process. Simply snakes around regions.

Those are "pods" designed to limit travel for higher seeded teams, particularly in earlier rounds. So duke gets to play in Charlotte and Arizona in Portland in the opening two rounds.

But since duke is the lowest rated #1 seed in this edition of bracketology, they are shipped out west for the regional (sweet 16 and elite 8).

Those directions you are seeing, (east, west, south, and Midwest) are where the regionals are located. We will be a pretty low seed and will have no impact on where we play. We got shipped west in 2011 as well.
