Seriously: I like what those several players said. The article stated that one athlete in particular said that removing the threat of lost scholarship would reduce the coaches' authority and demoralize the team. I AGREE that their scholarships should not be guaranteed. I'm just forced to infer that the guarantee was won by SEVERAL other players' requests over SEVERAL years.

Basically, exactly what I posted. The "4 year guarantee" isn't universally supported by the players.
