Chris wants to know what their majors are.

I, for one, am glad to see football players on the academic honor roll anywhere. I hope they all go on to graduate. (No, that is not trolling.)

IT_Dawg: I think an honor roll rate of 35% is probably higher than the student body at UGA and most other places (maybe I'm wrong, haven't checked). Considering all of their other distractions in life, to have that rate among football players is an impressive result to build on. It's one that I hope becomes of greater emphasis in the future all around the NCAA. We give academics a lot of lip service as a nation when it comes to football, and it does our young men a disservice. When you can win both on the field and in life, that's class.

Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014...

On Thursday Chris Conley was named to the 2014 Capital One Academic All-District Football Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Conley, a 6-3, 205-pound native of Dallas, Ga., is majoring in journalism and has already received numerous accolades for his contributions on and off the field. Earlier this fall, he was named to the Allstate/AFCA Good Works Team, the SEC Community Service team, became a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award and a semifinalist for the National Football Foundation’s Campbell Trophy and Wooden Citizen Cup.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve appearing in at least 50 percent of their team’s games, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution.

The average GPA for the year 2013 was over 3.20 for the university.

Also, keep in mind of all the benefits that most players have. They get first pick on what profs they get, when their classes are, the best tutors on campus (forced to study hall by coaches) and a slight advantage with the TAs (willing to let shite slide for players)

Still was good enough for #2/13 SEC schools.

ETA: for football that is.

We had 297 student-athletes on honor roll. Very cool.

Also, I think one of the requirements is at least 14 hours. Chris might not be taking that many.

Obligatory LSU fan response to anything Chubb...

"I bet Fournette scored a 4.0! He’s better than Chubb at everything! Football, school, cooking, etc. You name it, Fournette is better than Chubb. Why? Just because.”
