Mountain Jam most amazing cut ever. I saw the band with Duane in the Macon Coliseum but because I got there late all I saw was Whipping Post and Mountain Jam.

Amazingly, twice the Allman Brothers Band played the prom in my hometown at then Albany Junior College (now Darton College) but I was at UGA at the time.

Saw them play with the Dave Matthews Band in Piedmont Park back in 2007. I usually just hold it as a point of pride that I saw the Allmans play in Piedmont and rarely ever mention the DMB part

Ah....Mountain Jam, brings back a memory.

1994. I was a KM at The Last Resort. My friend Will, who also worked there, and I decided to take the same 3 days off for a trip. We closed the restaurant one night and went home and loaded his Integra hatchback with our conga drums, couple changes of clothes and some pillows. Left Athens around midnight and drove until we were in D.C. around 8am. Parked by the National Mall and took our pillows out and a little bag to hold a mini water bong and a bowl of weed and walked until we got to the base of the Washington Monument. Laid on the grass and napped a couple of hours. Got up and discreetly took some bong hits and walked back to where we were parked to put our things in the car. Spent the next 4-6 hours in the Museum of Natural a History and wandering from one end of the mall to the other. Left DC at about 6pm and drove to New Jwrsey and stopped to change and do bong hits before we entered the Lincoln Tunnel. He told me(he had driven there a couple of times before) that it would be a cool experience to get high and drive through the tunnel cranking Mountain Jam. We were both big AB fans and played Live at the Fillmore East a lot. So, we got very high, cranked MJ up and hit the tunnel. Will never forget emerging from the tunnel into Midtown Manhattan with that song playing.

Already long enough so I won't detail the whole two days but to say our whole reason for going to NYC was to perform as street musicians in Town Square for a night. We did that. But we did this trip on a whim and had less than $200 each when we left Athens. We slept in Central Park during the day with nothing but our pillows , baseball and gloves, water and weed. Partied all night for two nights. We left Manhattan at 9am and stopped at some Holuday Inn in WV around 11am and crashed on their pool lounge chairs for about 5 hours and then drove the rest of the way home. Today, it is a big blur in my memory but I do recall a lot of those 3 nights. Never been back to Manhattan but hope to see it with my wife and kids soon.....sober and from comfortable accommodations.
