What do y'all do? Do you give money to them trusting that they will use the money for essential goods? Or do you buy them a to-go meal? Or nothing at all?

I was recently in St. Louis for the Illini vs. Mizzou basketball game and had multiple homeless people ask me for money. Talked to one guy on the way to the bar and gave him a couple of dollars. Left that same bar 5 hours later at 2 A.M. and the same guy I gave money to was waiting outside for me wanting more.

I'll throw them some dollars if I have them.

I'd rather have the money used to buy booze than to not help someone who actually needs it.

I'll give them money if they're honest with me and I'm actually carrying cash.

There was a homeless dude that stayed near my apartment in Fort Worth. I used to drop him a twenty once or twice a week. I don't really care what he used it for. I'm Ok with taking the chance that he'll spend it on booze if there's the chance he used it for food. I talked with him for a minute one day and he seemed genuine.

There was a huge homeless problem right outside of downtown Fort Worth where we lived, but no crime issues.

I just saw a piece about what they did for the homeless in Salt Lake City. They gave them homes for free. They said it's cheaper than the cost of all the emergency services and police resources used to keep them off the streets. Now there are no homeless people in Salt Lake City. Pretty cool.

There are thousands more on their way to SLC as we speak.

It's a great way for other cities to get rid of their homeless. Tell them about SLC. Selfish Mormons. Trying to corner the market with free housing. Oh, wait, that word "free," is it really?

It's free to the homeless people, and it costs the city and taxpayers less money.

They said it costs $12,000 per year per homeless person to house them, but it used to cost $20,000 per homeless person for emergency services and law enforcement.

Why should it cost SLC taxpayers anything? Welfare was meant to be private when our country was founded. That's why religious organizations aren't taxed to this day.

There should be no public welfare.
