I don't really understand this comparison at all,
they're both successful coaches that have our number that seem to beat us more than not, and are directly responsible for preventing us from winning more ballgames.
Yall can long for the days you get a little quip that you could easily get from a new yorker desk calendar, I would trade that for a win any day.

I should've expected these type responses over here.

Which feels better? To beat Tech, Auburn, and Florida when we crash all of their dreams and their only loss or if they are all on probation and all having losing seasons?
It feels good just to beat them at all, period And the thing is that we have not been beating SC nearly as much under spurrier as we have/will with him gone.

I must have missed a hell of a hire. Who is he coaching now?
He stirs the pot and makes waves in the offseason, which is one of the primary things you said you'd miss spurrier for.

And it won't feel nearly as sweet.
brother if you can't find pleasure in UGA beating another football team then something's wrong with you. I don't care if we're facing nick saban or john l smith...winning is always sweet. There will never come a day where we win a game and I say "yeah that was cool...but man it sure is a bummer spurrier wasn't coachign them instead".

Schott was qb under spurrier, behind Weurffflle.
4 years.
Knowing that, re-read the comment.
Classless douchebag.

Agreed.

Spurrier coaches a team that we play against. Not some blow-hard. And I like the fact that he actually has a personality instead of some boring milktoast corporate blandness that most coaches have now.

I've never said winning wasn't sweet. And I've never said it was a bummer. Honest question, which felt better to you, the win at Tech in 2009 or the win in Athens in 2012?

Can anyone imagine Richt saying something like that about Logan Grey or some other backup QB that went into coaching?
And Spurrier went to the NFL for a minute, and came back to college.
His old arse is getting senile. He's done, sooner than later. His quips are getting borderline embarrassing to scar fans. Better they get rid of him before he goes full Holtz.
Then the next great coach from years of old can come to Carolina to die.
Bobby?

Honestly the more some of yall respond with maximum asshurt, the more I like him
Nobody said he was george carlin. I dont think he thinks he is. Hes just a smirky smartass that knows he's earned the right to never have to placate anybody or censor himself. I doubt any of the coaches who take his jabs don't chuckle a little. Its just the insecure fans who's team he consistently woodsheds

they were both equally sweet, because it's tech. There really aren't varying degrees when it's always at the nth degree.
ETA: I take that back, there are varying degrees. 2012 (and by extension, 2002) were probably sweeter because it's a teeny bit more fun to completely monkey stomp the shite out of them.

That's where I'm going with this. But on the other end of the spectrum. (2012 was probably not a good example year). If we beat Tech 27-17 it feels good because beating Tech feels good and as their big brother it's what we are supposed to do. Hanging half a hundred on Tech or beating them in their house when we have no business doing so while they are in he Top Ten just adds that little shite eating smirk to your face leaving the stadium.

quote:Some reporter should've had the guts to ask "you've been an NFL coach. Why did you go to college".
“He’s been an NFL coach, I don’t know why he went to college,” Spurrier said Wednesday night.
That said, Spurried is no longer a reliable coach but he is still reliable entertainment.

He's a great offensive coach. Be he is a bigger OFFENSIVE coach. He is an arse. Snotty, cocky, yells at this players, blames his quarterbacks for everything and kills their confidence. I won't miss him at all.
Of course, I have never met him. I thought I met him once, but it turned out to be a horse arse taking a dump.

He's definitely an entertaining old coot, but I still don't like him.

Not for much longer. He will be 70 soon.
The age thing should be so easy for our coaches to use with recruiting. Who could argue with it? No even the 18 year old kids.

Gotta love Spurrier, always says it like it is.
We know Richt could care less what Spurrier says, but maybe comments like this will motivate Jeremy Pruitt to study film for all hours of the night for Carolina like he did for the Auburn game.
