I wouldn't say I search out brands that cost more, but I'd say this instance is a exception.

Most of the time your higher quality items will cost more.

I like to have things that are different. I try to find quality brands that not a lot of people have.

That depends on where it's made to me. To a certain extent I agree. I have no problem dropping a lot more money on my favorite candles, pottery, etc, because they're a higher quality than Glade or Martha Stewart Everyday.

True. And IMO it should be about quality instead of price.

The kicker with the OP though is that they're not going to stop making their higher end items you can purchase from their stores/site. The only thing that "devalues" it is that the people that buy the higher end product for status purposes just lost some of that exclusive status. LP is just creating a reasonably priced/probably lesser quality product at Target like other designers have done before. No one is forcing them to buy the lower quality product. And like a knockoff purse, you can usually tell the difference if it's that much of a concern.

Personally, I'd rather see people learn how to dress well at a lower cost when things like this happens. I don't really see anything negative about well designed clothes being available to someone who doesn't want to shell out $200-$300 for a dress. Now I'm not a big LP fan but to each his own.
