Depth is the biggest hurdle at the moment.
KC
I wish we'd pay more attention to KC area recruits, there's some good talent up there.

So, blame your AD.
His statement had nothing to do with blame...so? It was simply a fact that Bert came into a big mess when he took the job.

Rank them how you want, but I think in the long run, Bert will prove to be the best hire.
Bert has a make or break year, next year. He will have to beat AU,UA or A&M and finish in the top 3 in the West, to keep the heat off. The two shutout wins against teams reeling, helped him this year. But looking back, those were not as impressive as some want to make out.

Yeah Bert did inherit a mess, which none of it was his fault obviously. I was impressed with the hire when it happened. I then sat here shaking my head and laughing at all the Rantards dissing Bert when he struggled at the beginning.
This isn't the NFL folks where you can turn around a team in one season, most incidents, it takes time to rebuild a college program when it's a dumpster fire. Bert is ahead of schedule in my opinion. And this is coming from someone that wants Arky to stay down since we recruit alot of the same players, geographically close, and play you every year now.

pitiful.
When was the last time Auburn shutout any SEC teams while Gus was on staff?

You may be right, but I disagree, I think he turned the corner and will be a force to be reckoned with.

Where do you get the idea Bert inherited a mess. He just followed a coach who was a mess. Petrino had good recruiting classes. You dumb.
Maybe but half those recruiting classes were gone, we took a lot of thugs.
Bielema inherited a disaster, he's done an incredible job to be at 7 wins this year.
Gus inherited a gold mine and only won one more game.

what other choice did he have? it was mid April

Shutting out two SEC West opponents in back-to-back weeks is very impressive.....

Berts style of play will prevent blowouts, and he kept the losses close (minus the AU Game). But if you looked at their schedule, the mainly played against QBs that were struggling at the time. See UA, LSU and Ole Miss games. Running the ball will help against teams that have a hard time scoring, but it will not get you over the hump alone. They have to find a passing game.

LSU did not have a QB and was coming off the AL loss. Ole Miss was coming off the AU loss, with their best WR injuried and Bad Bo.

Auburn was a preseason top 5 team this year. They finished with 5 losses. They went 3-5 in their final 8 games. Not to mention, losing to a team coached by Barry Alvarez. Seriously Barry Alvarez....

I agree, Bert would have to be number one on my list.
The thing about Gus, Auburn already had the athletes that he recruited to run his system when he left for Arkansas State. I think Gus is a good coach, but that offense will always have it's limitations. If Muschamp gets the defense turned around good things can happen.
As far as Butch Davis goes, we'll find out next year when he has a full summer practice and roster with his players.
I think the Stoops are the most over-rated bunch of average coaches in college football. Bob Stoops benefited from a weak Big 12 for 15 years. The win over Alabama last year doesn't change that. They have been blown out in more bowl games than any other team in country that is held in such high regard. Now that the Big 12 has other powers, combined with the loss of Venables to Clemson, they have been exposed. Long story short, everybody jumped on Mark Stoops 5 win Kentucky team earlier this year, we all knew they were a product of a crap schedule. Kentucky will squeak out a win over somebody good every now and then, but Kentucky will never be more than a 7 or 8 win team. Mark Stoops is nothing special.

Other than a disappointing season for Auburn, how do any of the posts seem insecure or mad? They are merely stating facts.

So glad we didn't tank the program with that hire.

Neither of the hires was a home run. As of now, Gus is slightly ahead of Bert. But it's by a really thin margin that is only shrinking. Butch still isn't very good. UT fans are going to be confused next year when they go 8-4. Interested to see what Stoops does next year, seems to be recruiting better, but he has to beat somebody.

You should be glad. 6-6 seasons are hard to come by at Arky. frick a SEC title

This is quite possibly the dumbest post I've ever read on this board.
