Bobo has basically said that him leaving had nothing to do with money:

Bobo would have been an idiot to have stayed even if we had matched whatever CSU offered. He has a chance to prove he is capable of running the show and make a lot of money in the process. If he proves successful he can write his own check in a few years....fail and he is still wealthy and probably hire able as a OC at many schools including UGA.

Lip service. If he jst waned to advance his career, he would have left a while ago. I think he left because there no longer was an updsie for him to stay...
