"As Adams passes the baton to Morehead, he told the full board: “It’s going to take some discipline from this board moving forward and from the administration. There are some places that are running headlong toward the cliff. Assistant coaches salaries, incredible money being spent on revenue sports. It will, in my opinion, it will take some continued self-discipline for us to stay in the black.”"

This was posted on this site, Summer 2013, as part of comments from the 2013 UGA AA Board meeting, which is where budgets and capital expenses are formally set.

It says nothing about Championships... The goal is to stay in the black.

Yet, as others have commented, we have this....

"Those cash reserves are projected to be $65.3 million after $6.2 million goes to previously approved projects to Sanford Stadium, Foley Field and various scoreboard upgrades.
Georgia has benefited from a decision made last fall to begin moving $30 million to the UGA Foundation as an endowment. With the stock market thriving, that produced $450,000 in investment earnings by the end of March, according to treasurer Tim Burgess."

I really didn't realize the depth of this until I started looking at the numbers this past year. We are committed to profit, while not adding to the proliferation of coaching salaries and capital expenses.

...and money I gave to the UGA AA was donated the the GA foundation... I already give to them. Next time Brad and Travis come to hit you up for money to help pay for support our student Athletes, just tell them you are just gonna cut out the middle man and send it all to Hilda... fricking assholes...

Take it for what it is worth, but my roommate has a friend who works in the AD and talks to lot of players. He spoke to him today and confirmed that the tension is a real thing that the players are aware of as well. A lot of it stems from Richt fighting to pay his assistants more and McGarity not doing anything about it. ADGM was open to give Bobo a raise but not going to give him close to Pruitt money which is what was needed to make him consider sticking around.
