I'll ask again....

How did the new trendy talking-point about McGarity being cheap cause the fumbles or the squib kick against Tech?.... or cause one of the shittiest Defensive performances in history against a terrible Florida team?.... or cause us to lay another Defensive egg against a garbage USCe team?

Please explain how higher salaries or indoor practice facilities or anything else regurgitated within the talking-point caused a team capable of playing the way it did against Clemson or miZzzouri or arkansas for example to show up and play like it did in the three losses.

DOesn't make any sense to me.

NOt to mention the fact that a team you people seem to envy like Auburn with the "Championship or bust" "money-is-no-object" mentality had 4 losses this season. ONe of them to us supposed "cheapskates".........

They didn't..you're right about that. However, it's also a fact that Bobo was making a hair more than $500K this year which is simply incredible considering his tenure and his resume. I mean, we gave Grantham $750K right off the bat before he even set foot on campus. It's a joke that Bobo was so grossly underpaid.

It seems that the "cool" thing to do now is bash mcgarity, but I think a lot of it is simply a buildup of frustrating events. It started with teh swimming ordeal dragging out for damn near a whole year. Then the botching from 100 different angles in the Gurley case. Then our DC publicly making comments about an IPF and mcgarity swiftly rejecting them, also publicly. And now us losing one of our best assistants.

I think people are just at the point now where they're just fed up with the guy, and they have good reason IMO.

It's a deflection to find something to blame other than CMR or the Coaching staff when they do something stupid. Some people are so invested in Richt/Pruitt/Bobo (edit) that they can't bring themselves to criticize them.

These same folks can't seem to grasp that Bobo is smart enough to realize that he needs HC experience....AND...he's smart enough to realize that getting this at CSU is better than jumping into the deep end and drowning like Muschamp did. It may have had nothing to do with the money...or UGA...or anything else that Admin could've changed.

That's my take on it anyway...

First, McGarity didn't create the "cheap" culture at UGA. This has been around for a long time. I guess he cut his teeth around Dooley who relished in this MO, though it is pretty clear that this culture runs deeper than Dooley. Frankly, when McGarity came, I felt like this old culture would end as he certainly saw UF spend some money... especially on Football and Basketball. One could say he has increased our spending, but we are playing catch up at the very least.
This does not exonerate poor coaching and coaching decisions during and bfore games.
The same Alabama team that lost to Ole Miss drubbed just about everyone else. Teams are going to lose and guys are gonna make mistakes and you will need some fortune and good bounces to win in football.
You can ask a question as to what did McGarity do to lose those games and I think it is valid.
I can ask if we would have beaten USCe this year if we hadn't kicked off or suspended so many talented offensive and defensive players due to recreational drug use that is common among that age group and done so in a way that our peers have not... you can say Bobo should have run it down there and I can say, we should have had more upperclassman and quality depth on defense...
You can say it was the defense shitting the bed that lost the UF game and I can say that if we had the best RB in the game on our team, would we have been able to score more and put the game more on the shoulders of their freshman QB?
I guess the biggest question is... what will change if we get a new HC? Will we have the best facilites? Will we put togehter a staff that can recruit and coach? Will we quit over policing ourselves and find a better way?
Is the root cause of our woes Richt?

Our last 3 HCs were RB coach at UGA, Head Coach of a 1AA team and OC at FSU.
We completely stayed out of the frey of big assistant packages until it got to the point that ADs were getting pressure.

...and keep in mind. Our University is comfortable telling the world that they give the HC a budget for assistants and that's that... Agents know, our competition knows, and our people know.

If you beleive the talk, it appears Pruitt has attemtped to turn the place upside down. How a guy could come in here and do that is beyond me. Maybe that was the final straw for Bobo. It seems that some changes are being made, but I wonder if they will be a true departure from what we are... I hope so... I dont care who coaches us and who our AD is... I just don't want us to act like we are the moral class of the SEC whilst kicking off and suspending players all the time for all kinds of publicized misdeeds while at the same time, always seeming to come up just a tad short on the field.

At least we are only 60 miles from the most prolific basketball recruiting grounds in the USA and we built a basketball support staff and facilities to take advantage of that....
