As I said before, at the end of the day it's nothing more than a popularity contest

I think it is more about the $$$. Ohio State is going to bring more viewers, fans, and hype than a medium-sized Baptist private school.

While they will never publicly admit it (and I have no way to prove it) the entire ranking controversy of the preceding weeks was a simple ploy to get people to watch games they otherwise would not watch.

Very few people would have tuned in to see K-State v. Baylor outside the Big 12 viewing audience. With the controversy it all of a sudden became engaging TV.

The committee was full of smart people who knew exactly what they were doing and they got a huge out with OSU winning 59-0.

This is what I mean when I say popularity contest. The big names are always going to get the nod over the schools with smaller fan bases and shallower pockets.

Why do people think that businesses which promote themselves and do what makes them most profitable is some sort of conspiracy theory?

It's business. PERIOD!

Why would any of you think that the business of college football would be run any different than any other big business?
