Alabama is scared of UAB, big time. Not the football program per se, but the university as a whole. Lots of rumors flying that the BoT is looking to slow or limit UABS under grad enrollment and push it to being just a grad school.

A friend who works at UAB as an administrator told me a lot of the higher up admins have either found a new job or will be finding new jobs soon. This has been very bad news for the city of Birmingham. UAB could be one hell of an independent university but getting out from under Alabama's thumb, especially with the limp dick they have for a president, is basically impossible. Lord knows this governor doesn't give a shite about it.

What you are saying is the truth. My wife was assistant prof at UAB, it was getting to the point of the new leadership's actions (disdain for Honors Program, De-emphasis on undergrads, and isolation of medical school) that she started applying for new positions.

That is why i am freezing my arse off in Pennsylvania now. I had to give up my teaching job, but she just did not like where the future of UAB was headed.
