It's not like his defense got better down the stretch. It got worse. If it had stayed the same or only had a small drop off but stayed consistent then you could have made a case to keep him. Through the last 6 SEC games Auburn gave up more points than it ever has in history.
Scheme wise a 4-3 isn't much different except you have a "Star" position no good recruit wants to play.
As for the HUNH affecting it. Auburn doesn't run hunh near as much as people who don't have a clue claims. If other team's can run more plays and play better on Defense still then it's not the offense holding it back.
