You're not wrong, but if we have good defensive players and they continually fail to execute, either we're on a really bad run of luck or there is a problem with the defensive coaching.

Ellis had the misfortune of facing a challenge this season with some really debilitating injuries. On that basis, I think Gus could have reasonably given him another year, but at the same time, does anyone think EJ is an innovative mind well suited to face the increasing offenses of the SEC while playing on a potentially HUNH team? I'd be surprised if anyone does.

People are looking for reasons why this move spells doom for Auburn. I just don't think you're going to find them.
