I was UGA class 1971. Richt has been our best coach since I started following Georgia in the early 1960s. However Richt has made incredible dumb calls his whole career. Below are three of the dumbest calls ever made anywhere.

2001 Georgia was at home against Auburn and losing 24-17 with 12 seconds remaining. Geogia had the ball 1st and ten on Auburn's one yard line with no time outs. There is time for three plays if the first two are quick incomplete passes to the end zone. Instead of passing Richt ran a sweep left and time expired when we were stopped short. I've never seen any coach fail to call a pass play in that situation.

2012 SECCG against Bama. The insane failure to spike.

2014 Tech. The squib kick.

I say keep Mark Richt in spite of how insanely stupid the man can be at times. I can deal with the frustration. I love Richt's style of offensive football. I would not trade for a Saban or a Malzahn. At some point Mark Richt is going to succeed in spite of himself. The recruiting classes look great. I can't wait to see What Jacob Eason could do in a Richt offense.
