It's not technically the same at all, or any kind of same. MSU would not only not be any kind of conference champion at all whatsoever, they wouldnt' be their division champion either.

Um, actually they definitely would be the division co-champion. We're not about to hang a banner, but it is exactly the same principle as only being the co-champion of the conference.
