Mizzou Fans, Will Arkansas Become Your New Archrival?

Most would agree that Mizzou's historical archrival was Kansas in the underrated Border War (Border Showdown for the politically correct crowd) series. Like TAMU-Texas, that series went by the wayside with Mizzou hopping to the SEC.
Every team needs a rival. Because Arkansas is now Mizzou's permanent crossover opponent and because of the proximity between the two schools, it seems like this could evolve into a rivalry series. What do the fans of both sides think?

yes, but not to the extent of Kansas, which has its roots from the 1850s, through the Civil War

Should be a good rivalry, without the deep hatred of killing, rape, and burning of communities.
Looking forward to it!

eh, can't force this kind of thing. If it happens, it happens. Nothing will ever amount to kansas, but maybe this will turn into something.

aTm and Texas are still rivals, even if they won't play each other. Still talk about each other constantly.

This will develop into a decent little cross divisional game. Nothing will take the place of kU. Don't want or need it to. No point in trying to force it to be something.
It is fun having something to play for at the end of the year rather than which 3rd tier southern city your team is going to. I hope that continues no matter who we play at the end of the year.

Makes sense.....especially since Arkansas is gonna beat the brakes off Missouri preventing them from playing in the sec championship.

I dont think it will be any more of a heated/rivalry type of thing than aTm was.
Its just another cross divisional game.

Were you looking at a picture of Gurley or Herschel while you beat off typing this?

The rivalry with kansas was almost too nasty to be enjoyable. Not sure how this manufactured rivalry with Arky will turn out, but if the rant is any indication of the obnoxiousness of their fanbase, I could certainly grow to hate them very quickly.

IRL Arky fans are good people.

If we can start hating the state of Arky, then it has a chance. But it's hard to hate LSU's lil bro.

It's got potential, at least from the Missouri perspective. Arkansas took the best basketball coach they have had since Norm. And if Arkansas wins on Friday, then the series will have the juice of one team keeping the other from a division title. Missouri has never really won anything of importance against Arkansas on the field/court. However, we could get a little bent out of shape for y'all letting Tyus Edney go the length of the court in '95 which eventually prevented us from going back-to-back as National Champs.
