I wouldn't say no advantage. There's little sporting advantage. There's huge branding advantages. KC is a much more competitive market for college sports than STL. If you're goin to do a neutral game, do it in KC.

I like BYU on the schedule and it completes 2015. I would've preferred the game to be in Columbia, but Arrowhead is a close second. We obviously recruit heavily in KC, without the best success %, so this game may help.

Also, it is interesting that the 2020 schedule now has 4 home games and 6 away games with two more games TBA. That's not much home cooking. Most schools have 7-5 or 8-4 home/away schedules.

That is true. But I had to provide my obligatory Mizzou fan knee-jerk reaction. Just frustrates me as a season ticket holder though to see what should be home game taken away. Really though just the absence of the return trip to Columbia which rubs me the wrong way, makes the department come across as weak. Albeit that may be true, I just don't want to see it.

Yet STL is just as important a recruiting area as KC is.

The fan turnout response is really a factor of 2 issues, the relevance of Mizzou's national status and the economy in general. If both are good you'll get a good fan response in either STL or KC. Of course one Mizzou can do something about, the other we cannot.

In a perfect world of a good economy and a dominant team we get a neutral site game every year and if that world is really perfect we get a home at COMO and an away at the neutral site. When Alden does that I will have some respect for his scheduling ability, sounds like he almost pulled it off for the Arky St games, which I would give him some mad props for.

He needs to work that angle til he finds the taker, probably a team with a regional angle, maybe Wichita St would play their home at Arrowhead or Memphis at STL. I would beat that bush til the leaves come off and you find a taker, could be a win-win for both programs.

I'd argue that STL is a more important area for recruiting based on pure demographics alone. But right now, Mizzou owns St. Louis from a fan perspective. There are fewer and fewer Illini fans and less and less Illini coverage all the time. From a fan standpoint, the competition is much fiercer for fans in KC.

Playing in KC is fine. Playing a series with BYU and no home game is not.

I really like the teams we're scheduling. Surprised, obviously, that BYU could dictate no home game to MU. Why not just do it in Columbia? If there was a 3rd game, I get it in KC, but why not just move that game to COMO? Is that Mizzou's decision? Wanting to keep KC area engaged?

Ok, I see that MU gets to keep the entire gate for the KC game. Is it possible that they think they'll attract a larger crowd in KC? Not sure how many games we've sold out in COMO but pretty sure none of the OOC games were sold out, though none of them were as attractive as a BYU. Wonder if that's a factor.

Alden, on if BYU series could have been true home-and-home, with first game in Columbia: "It could have worked as a home-and-home."

Pete Scantlebury @PeteScantlebury
For fans complaining about losing a home game in 2015 with this KC game, remember that Missouri has sold out one home this year.

This guy gets it, Alden probably believes he has a better chance of selling out the game in Kansas City because he knows our "fans"* don't attend home games period.

And it might be easier to draw more people for BYU to KC? Dunno.

The BYU game @ Arrowhead is a good idea in my opinion. More revenue could be generated by having the game @Arrowhead with 6,000 more seats provided the game does sellout. Also another factor fans may be overlooking @PeteScantlebury Just remember, you will be able to buy beer!. The alcohol sales from the game being played in Arrowhead could mean additional revenue $ for Mizzou

Arrowhead has about 12,000 more seats. Faurot only seats ~68k.

This is a made for ESPN game, though, and that is why it is OK.

There is a big Mormon poplation around KC. I'm sure they'll come out. RLDS, but close enough.

Right, but capacity (which would be the correct # for the comparison in question) is a bit over 71k

The statement was seating not capacity. Just making sure people don't get the wrong idea.
