Good God you're gonna be unbearable this week (I still love you), but it does feel good to beat Georgia.
Some reflections: Why...didn't we play like this from the very beginning? Kelvin Taylor needs to help more, short passes, never throw deep, this is how this offense is supposed to be run.
Why did we have like 6 deep passes a game before? Blows my mind.

Where has this team been all year? Was it really as simple as benching driskel?
Posted on 11/1/14 at 6:33 pm to slayerxing
Yeah it was that simple. Driskel would of thrown 3 ints in 6 pass attempts if he wild of played.

So our running backs both rush for nearly 200 yards each while Treon Harris throws for 27 yards on three completions and you give the victory to the quarterback?
Color me shocked.

fricking hell. Beat South Carolina and Vandy, and if Mizzou, UGA, and UF finish each at 5-3 in the SEC, UF goes to Atlanta.
I think my head will explode if that happens.

No one knows how to fail upward as well as us, that's true.

Listen jerkoff, i wasnt giving credit to harris. But wtf, everyone else was the same starters as 2 weeks ago. The only change was the qb position. The team played totally better. So either that made the difference or the coaches magically learned how to coach this week? Its not like floridas run game did anything the last two games. Wtf do you think caused such a drastic reversal?

Realistically, its mizzous division to lose.

Why? Dude acts like he is tSuperfan and attacks Gator posters more than any rival fan. Go look at the end of the game thread

Do you think Harris hands the ball off better?
If we had played like this all season we actually may have won more games. We have no vertical threat, Harris threw what, six times the entire game?
The problem was throwing six or seven deep balls a game -- they're low percentage plays. We didn't throw a single one this game (well maybe one, but I think Harris overthrew it) and it's more conservative but -- this is how a spread offense is supposed to work.
Short gains lead to long gains.
So I think a dramatically different playbook changed the game.
Unless, as I asked: Do you think Harris hands the ball off better, jerkoff?

Yeah Rich...cause Im tired of Gators being their own worse enemy. You don't have to wave pom poms and cheer...and yes....I love ya Straws...but I had to leave this board because of you for a while.
I defend our coaches til they aren't our coaches and when you cursed Boom....I had to leave this board...or get banned...which wouldn't be a freaking big loss 2 weeks ago with all the hatred. I may need eye surgery but I could surely see the horrible game close and personal to Mizzou.
Remember the adage that the darkest hour is before the dawn and Boom has had terrible luck and he has also created some of it. The coaches made the right call to make it a run run run game and not let Treon have to deal with a fierce pass rush. Our poor defense has almost never had a freaking lead all year and you can see the difference when you make the other team throw.
Mark my words...we don't turn the ball over against cragleg college we will win with our defense.
And for any name calling...I apologize...just too much Gator in me

Everyone has been somewhat sarcastically (but actually seriously) suggesting that we just never even pass the ball, because our QB play has just been fricking us... THAT badly.
Today we didn't pass. At all, and we kicked some fricking arse, against a good team.
We've still got some issues, but damn. Our Defense looked so good when they weren't on the field all day and were playing from obvious pass situations.
If we can just not frick ourselves on offense we have a chance against pretty much anyone, because our pass rush is sick and our secondary can make plays. If we could ever establish a respectable offense, we'd be good, just like we were when we made the sugar bowl a few years back.

Benching Driskel needed to happen. For all the reasons every analysts says, it brings new life to the TEAM, and UF turned the ball over 1 time today. Driskel is a walking turnover. With Driskel, UF doesn't run the ball and get an identity like they did today.

Let me also say that I want to like muschamp. I love his intense mentality and I love the energy he brings. I was a supporter of him when he was hired and I was a supporter for as long as I could be (which ended when we lost to Ga Southern and only got worse this season.)
That being said, our offense has just been a trainwreck. Like an absolute trainwreck. For years our offense has been absolute shite and he has to go because we can never compete when we are this inept, but I really wish it could have worked out for him.

It didn't change anything in the game. We could have literally played a wide receiver at quarterback and nothing would have been different.
It's nice to have a scapegoat, but the real issue here is not running this offense from the very beginning when our deep game wasn't working.
And we turned it over one time because...we threw it six times and worked on ball security regarding fumbles.
He literally did nothing the entire game, and like I said: If we had done this with Driskel the exact same results would have happened.
This should have been our offense directly after the Alabama game. Although I do think we need to pass more often...unless we keep posting 450 yard rushing.
But to give the game ball to the QB and be like: Oh yeah that's what gave us the win...
Is unbelievably absurd.

On the field? Probably not. But mentally? You cant deny that.
When our offense doesn't turn the ball over much, we tend to play much better.
Thats the biggest thing I take away anyway.

I totally agree -- but this offense isn't QB reliance heavy. If we had been running this from the git go we wouldn't have had as many turnovers as we did and that's just a statistical fact. Harris has turned it over a couple of times now (I don't blame him for today, Jones did that to Driskel as well) -- and our offense was horrible vs. Mizzou no matter who was at QB.
Today was straight up the offensive line getting their shite done. Maybe to save Muschamp's job? Maybe because they felt pathetic? I don't know, but they played as a unit -- with or without Treon we looked bad against Mizzou.
The backs bounced out for extra yards, Oline/TE/WR all blocked amazingly.
I just don't feel like anything changed from the QB position because...he didn't do anything. I think he totaled ~50 yards total and people are ready to give him the game ball.

If you don't think benching Driskel made a difference for this team than you just don't know anything about football.
No. Treon Harris did not win the game. NO WHERE HAVE I SAID TREON HARRIS WON THE GAME.
The team as a whole won the game. They played better on offense, they EXECUTED better in all phases.
That's why they won. But changing QB's contributed to that. It provided a spark.
I'm not saying the losses were Driskel's fault either. But the team needed a change, and it seems to have worked.

I need some cogent, solid evidence that something other than the play calling was changed.

Because another guy was handing off the ball? That doesn't seem suspicious to you?

The spark to...block better while running the ball? Are you certain getting blown out at home to Missouri for homecoming didn't provide a spark?
Are we allowed to guess at other angles other than Driskel because you can't help but pretend like that's the only thing holding us back?
There are tons of reasons to provide a spark.
Not going to a bowl.
Your head coach potentially being fired the next week.
As stated above: Getting blown out on homecoming.
Not having won against Georgia.
But you see -- you go straight to the quarterback. In a game where we threw six times -- you actually have the gall to say that the catalyst was changing the quarterback and haven't said anything else.
I sincerely think that some of you need to check your biases, because they're unbelievably pitiful at this point.

I will add my .03 worth: The OL was chewed out good after the Mizzou game and the coaches had a meeting with the OL to ask them to remember what it was like when they were frosh and playing in the WLOCP for the first time...and to consider what Treon would go through if they didn't give max effort. It worked.
