Sorry, we are all just so terrified at the prospect of a world in which Georgia State and UAB run shite that we want to talk about happier things.

The subject is ludicrous. And there's not a damn thing to back it up.

Your premise is so ridiculous. Bama created and subsidizes UAB athletics, but now they hold them back because they are scared UAB will overtake them

It's fricking retarded

Buncha Bammers and Aubs bored as shite this afternoon - killing time arguing about fricking UAB Football.

Tell me, when was the last time you UAB football even crossed your mind? (I'm sure it had something to do with Saban.)

It's just the fact that everyone knows why Bama is trying to hold UAB back. The fact that most of the bammers deny that it is even happening is mind blowing. I know that most on here do not believe half the stuff they have been posting. I guess they feel they are doing their part by denying it on a SEC Website, and the KY and Vandy fans might believe it.

Majority of young people want to live, work and "play" in an urban environment. Our generation doesn't want to live in a suburb, work in a suburban office complex, eat at Applebee's and go home to our all white neighborhood.

Sometimes I actually feel sad for those people who spend an hour or more driving from downtown to Calera or Chelsea. But then I realize it's a choice they made and agressively blow my horn so they'll because they're prolonging my commute past my typical 15 minuets

My favorite part is when those people then try to explain to you why you really need to move out to where they are. You just don't understand, where you live is scary and not safe and you really need a big house in a subdivision with no trees.

Literally crazy Auburn fans (most of whom have never been to UAB) are the only ones who KNOW this.

They are the only ones.

UAB doesn't know this. Bama doesn't know this. LSU doesn't know this. All the other students at UAB who aren't crazy Auburn fans don't know this.

Apparently UAB students don't understand how much they love UAB and hate Alabama.

TnM should head down there and explain it to them.

Big-time UAB backer Jimmy Filler announced the formation of the UAB football foundation, a private organization that will work in concert with the university's administration, local business leaders, University of Alabama board of trustees and the City of Birmingham to deepen the Blazers' economic footprint and, in turn, up the profile of the program, today.

"Birmingham has long been known as the Football Capital of the South and our Foundation will ensure a vibrant UAB football program which will preserve this sacred legacy," Filler said in a release "Further, the Foundation will help to provide the necessary resources to ensure that UAB students have a comprehensive college experience which includes a football program that builds tradition and pride in our University and Community."

Citing cities such as Shreveport ,La. (Louisiana Tech) San Antonio, Texas (UTEP) and Charlotte (Charlotte), which have used the interest and energy created by Conference USA member institution's football programs to broker partnerships and bolster economic activity in the surrounding areas, Fuller said the found he's started will seek to aid both "student recruitment" and "alumni development" with the Blazers football team as the catalyst.

Clark has already met with city officials, and, according to the release, Filler is set to announce board members, comprised of fellow business leaders and former UAB student-athletes in the coming weeks.

"Anything which would enhance the profile of UAB, the state's largest employer, would also help the city and provide tremendous economic growth," Birmingham Mayor William Bell said. "The City of Birmingham will always support expansion efforts the Mayor went on to say, what is good for UAB is good for the city of Birmingham."

Primary among the UAB Football Foundation's initial aims will be raising funds for the construction of a state-of-the-art, on-campus practice facility.

"I am very excited to hear about the Foundation and truly appreciate Mr. Filler's passion for our program," Clark said. "UAB Football is poised to do amazing things and with strategic investments to our practice facilities, we can build a program that makes our city and university proud. In our first season, we have already seen the excitement with our attendance being one of the highest in the conference. Clearly, we have a great foundation to build Birmingham's team," Clark said.

Yea, I have no problems with that.

Like I said earlier, it's unfathomable to me that UAB didn't already have something like this. This is generally a prerequsite at most places before they even start playing football (all the way down to D2). Maybe Lil Czar Bear wouldn't let them make their own non-profit organization

The Bammers think the rest of the World is blind to their tactics. Again, those UAB Med School Grads would shift their donations to the Mothership, if the program showed any success. UA BOT knows that and fears it.

While I am enjoying reading all the gumps get their panties in a wad about getting called out, I am going to have to disagree with you about the med grads. Undergrad affiliations are way stronger than grad school or med school.

And the dumbass bama fans, think if they attack anyone who claims otherwise, it legitimizes their arguement. Most would not argue this much over some fantasy from a rival fan base

That was surprising to me also.

I also like that they're going to focus on building an Athletic facilities first. I think that will greatly impact recruiting and translate into wins. The more UAB wins the better the justification for additional facilities.

The best thing they have done is hire Bill Clark. Guy can coach. But I agree, they need everyday facilities to be up to par first. Then worry about things like stadiums. And like I think you said earlier, the best bet for a stadium to figure something out with the city of Birmingham that would benefit both of them.

Nobody in their right mind is going to spend $70M on a stadium just for UAB. But, if it is for UAB, high schools, various other events, international soccer matches, etc.......maybe.

Do you eat shite like your father did? If so, do you realize that there are any number of life threatening illnesses you can contract from doing this?

Also, why did Shug Jordan beat his wife so mercilessly and why didn't she just leave him? It was a well known "secret" in Opelika that Mrs. Shug got her arse pummeled every single time Big Daddy came home a' drinking.

I'd also like to clarify that I speak as a resident of the Birmingham area more than anything. There have been times when I've resented the inconvience of UAB's growth (I really, really, miss the Southside Shoney's) but I realize that what's good for UAB is good for Birmingham.

I think the medical field will continue to grow over the next couple of decades and this could be Birmingham's opportunity to make up for all of the projects we lost in the 70's (Airport, Pro-team, ect). I don't think we'll ever compete with cities like Atlanta but I do think we have a chance to carve out our own unique niche.
