I think Mason's leadership is one of the most valuable intangibles this year, so yes. I would put Mason on that list.

Hutson has done his job, but does that make him the most VALUABLE player?

i dont know about that...probably the oline...Brice could have handed the ball off to Chubb 38 times against Mizzou...The first drive against ARk was a thing of beauty and HM did very well there...im glad we have him...but that doesnt make him a world beater or MVP...

That's not what he is. He's not remarkable, but he's been exactly what this team needs in terms of consistency and stability. He's tough, smart and and a DGD. All of that is very valuable IMO.

It's hard to say Gurley is the best college player in the game, but not the most valuable on our team. But I understand we do have quality backups.

I would say, evaluating the season as a whole so far and not game to game, with Gurley out, Sony hurt and Marshall hurt, a freshman running back carrying the ball for more than 30 times in each of two conference road games to keep our season in tact wins easily.

I say Chubb!

And argument could be made for it. After all....name the one player, if you took him off the team, would hurt the teams chances of winning?

Take Gurley off and Chubb keeps going.
Take Hutson off, and we might see a lot of INTS that cost us a game or two. Who would want to go to Auburn with Brice QBing this year?

So I can see a legitimate point being made for Mason. Possibly for any of the ones mentioned. With Gurley suspended, if you took Chubb off the team would we have won both games against Arkansas and Missouri? maybe....maybe not. I don't think so, though.

Keep in mind that MVP does not always equate to BEST player.

Let's play the "if he hadn't been there game"

Without Gurley...it appears Chubb and Sony would have been enough early on.

Without Hudson...Ramsey would have made some mistakes, but we all know our passing game was not great early on. So would the drop off have been that much?

Without Andrews..It's just too hard to single out one O lineman from that group.

Without Chubb...we would have been left with ROWK and JJ. I love them, but I think we would have lost one or two of the last two games.

So on the offensive side, the only person whose absence I think would have changed our record is Chubb. A freshman who saw Gurley, Marshall, and a 5* recruit, Sony already at or committed to UGA and came anyway.

Defense - Floyd is a beast, but again it's just hard to single out with the other line and LBs playing well.

*footnote* Remember how many "We're fricked" and "Now that the season is over" posts were made on here when Gurley was suspended? Remember how we "Disney Dawgs" were made fun of when we said we could still win? Look what Chubb did for us.

1) I agree, Andrews. Kid has been an anchor even if he is from Weslyan.

2) I may puke a little but the coaching staff. It hasn't all been pretty. shite, sometimes it's been downright putrid. But for this negadawg, IMO, this year TO THIS POINT has been one of their best moments. We have a defense that adjusts (holy hell!), an offense willing to transform into what it needs to be (Mason has been passing less and we have moved to a run-oriented offense less focused on balance) and the STs have been great outside of some gaffes.

3) Jordan Jenkins. After a great freshman year he had a soph slump. He admitted he got complacent in the offseason and said he'd work harder. SO many times kids have said that and it's just been empty rhetoric but Jenkins delivered. He lost weight and is a force not only rushing the passer but in run defense. IMO he's the defensive MVP. Floyd is great but the kid isn't great against the run and frankly he's disappeared at times. He loafs sometimes too but no that often. Also, a big part of Floyd's success? Jenkins. How many times has a QB been sacked by Floyd because he's running like hell away from Jenkins. Jordan Jenkins has absolutely killed it.

4) Quincy effin Mauger. I am so happy for Mauger to see him elevate his play to where it has been the past few weeks. Swann has had his moments, both great and Evans-bad, but Mauger he been a damn monster.

Honorable mention: Our guards. Outside of Kublanow getting his token 2 penalties a game for holding/false starts the interior of the line has been rock solid.

I'd also say Dominick Sanders. He's been a real champ out there as a true freshman.

People to improve: Mason has done better but there is still shite he has to work on. He doesn't need much more I guess (I think he does but I'm not gonna argue it).

The tackles. They have done well running at times but the pass blocking has to be done better. Theus is so damn hot and cold out there and Houston could do better as well.

The CBs. They have done admirably for their age and compared to last year but these guys still need work. Especially Devin Bowman. #37 makes me cringe a good many times.

Gurley, still. We probably don't win the Clemson or Tennessee games without him. Mason is a close 2nd.
