In my opinion, our DL is the only improved group in our entire team this season. And my optimistic side says that Price will keep improving and will eventually have a top notch line. Now I didn't watch the Alabama game (honest to god), but in the Ole Miss game, Freeze was running east-west and respecting our DL. He seemed to be attacking the flats and forcing our linebackers and DBs to tackle his sideways run-attack since he wasn't getting much from running up the middle.
Having said that, I have a question for you (and t-bird since you both agree) If you truly believe dominant DLs creste great defense and seeing how improved our DL is, are you willing to give Snyder 1 more year? I'm not saying I agree/disagree with DL being the heart of the D, just curious.

I'm in the camp that tends to err on the side of allowing a coaching staff to establish their culture over multiple years, for better or for worse. In my humble opinion, we've seen Snyder's defense be solid enough to net us wins/keep us in games with enough senior buy-in and leadership. Thanks to off-the field troubles, graduations/early departures, and general youth, we haven't had that in the past two seasons. Maybe that shows he's not what we need to take advantage of our talent, or maybe he needs a year of actual continuity for it to gel as a complete unit, but I say give him the rest of this year and the start of 2015.
And that better be a damn short leash. This ain't the year for a midseason ouster. Next season, though, all bets are off.

I dont think he is the guy. His scheme is too passive. I fall in the camp that finesse passive schemes have the habit of breaking down too easily. I like Snyder i think he is a helluva guy. But i think our units both offense and dedense need to dictate the terms of engagement more often than reacting to what is being done.
