What is the word for coercing a person to do illegal activity by threatening to reveal the persons previous illegal activities?

What is the word for asking for money in return for not revealing ones misgivings?

So your stance is these two guys tried to blackmail Gurley because they paid him for his signature? I was wrong, leghumpers will try to spin this.

Blackmail. But the one being blackmailed is still guilty.
