There is no downside to telling the truth and he needs to realize this. May not like the penalty, but it's short term, and in the end you've come clean and it's over with.

I was going to take the picture of Katy Perry with the pencil and paste Gurley's face over Corso, so we could blame her, but I'm not talented enough to do it.
