We've only gotten 9 total sacks thus far this season which is really surprising considering the problems offenses have had. It's a real testament to how good the secondary really is.

Bryon Bennett and Marquis Haynes lead the team with 2 a piece. Shack has 1.

Robert has 1. He's double teamed every play. I get that.

CJ has 0... This blows my mind.

I'm not complaining about our D by any means, but damn... If you'd have told me that 5 games in those would be our numbers, I wouldn't have believed it. I'd really like to see us get 3-5 vs aTm this weekend. If nothing else, I think we'll get pressure like we've been getting, but damn let's put some QBs on the ground.

What's it matter? Have you seen our defense? Best in the country! Sacks don't matter if they can't move the ball! Last year we spent a lot of time in the backfield, got a lot of sacks, but hardly stopped the run. This year sacks are down but who cares, sacks are just a number(like bos ints) if we are winning, that's all that matters!

I don't think the sacks tell the whole story. We've been bringing four down linemen a lot in obvious passing downs and getting pressure. This allows us to drop the LB's and help the secondary out. This is also why I believe we look so good in the secondary. With that being said, I expect those numbers to go up.

Really, it's not even a lack of pressure or penetration. Blake Sims was running for his life for most of the game. I do believe it's the secondary play that's made this stat happen because the quarterbacks see no one open, so they just throw it away.

But that's just my non-expert opinion. I've only watched most games once besides Alabama, which I've seen 3 times now.

We had a lot of sacks in 2012 when we had to rush 6-7 people to get pressure. It left our secondary hanging a lot iirc.

Of course. Don't get it twisted. I'm not complaining by any stretch of the means. It's just a little shocking that CJ Johnson has 0. 0 sacks. Zero.

I heard he'd been working out with Isaac Gross in the offseason.

Would explain it.

We don't blitz a lot - we are more content to sit back and let our secondary break on the short passes n shite.

How did you come to that conclusion? He had a sack in the Memphis game. It's listed on the season stats.

Yep cause the pocket breaks down people got a big #5 or one of our d line chasing them down.. They have worry about throwing INTs

That's exactly what I was thinking...
CJ does have a sack like previously stated, he's got much quicker in the offseason. Worked a whole lot on his burst off the line and it shows. As long as we keep putting up these kind of showings week in and week out, we got a lot to look forward to !!!

We don't have sacks because we're not blitzing. Against sims, we kept him in the pocket on purpose. Our secondary is so good, the worst thing we could do is flush the qb out of the pocket.

I agree with what others are saying.

We rush 4-5 at a time and we're still getting pressure. Opposing QBs barely have time to think.

I think about a play this weekend where DT almost had an INT. If we had blitzed for a sack that's probably a completion. And I'm pretty sure Sims was still under pressure there.

I think it's due to scheme. And it's working .
