A lot of AJ McCarron apologists in here. Dude hasn't shut up since he left here. I'll trust Saban. Play calling didn't cost us the game Saturday. Poor execution, turnovers, missed field goals cost us the game.

I trust Saban no differently, but play calling played it's own factor no differently than poor execution, turnovers, etc..

- The reason why we blew Florida away was because we decided to open things up.

- The reason Ole Miss came back was because they decided to open things up.

The reason we had a chance to win it late before the holding call and interception?

We decided to finally open things up.

It is not about running or passing, picking on or the other. That is misguided. We were balanced in attack against Florida. We are best when we are that way. It is about opening the pass attack up when we do pass and that was nothing something we did well Saturday.

as far as play calling, I like when we get aggressive on key fourth downs and decide we are going to win the game with by converting on fourth and keeping the other team off the field. I've seen saban do it plenty of times in years past, but I cant remember the last time we've done that.

I've seen too much playing not to lose and not enough playing to win.

I simply said AJ knows about Saban and what he wants/expects from the offense. I said nothing about what cost Bama the game. And i agree with you on what lead to the Bama loss....

Sorry, partsman. Wasn't speaking directly at you but more to the general consensus in this thread.

Many of the problems with team chemistry last year were directly caused by AJ. He was a great leader his first two years, but last year he got too serious, too bossy, talked down to his teammates and lost their respect. I think Sims has actually been a good leader out there, and we handled our business the first four games. The problem last game was we ran into maybe the top defense in the country, and we stopped pounding the ball with Yeldon when OM couldn't stop it. Add to that that this team sucks in the turnover ratio department, and it was a done deal. Agree, AJ needs to focus on his pro career and keep his mouth shut about his old coaches and teammates.

In the end, I think most don't want it being in the papers, because it will provide a lot of message board fodder for opposing fans.

And that's all it is, message board fodder. The people dissing AJ for expressing his opinion need to get a grip. It's not like he's trying to screw over his former team.

Our team needs to be focused on getting better and beating Arkansas right now, not answering questions about what the former QB thinks and reading about it in their twitter and facebook feeds. It's just another unnecessary distraction.

He's going back on the radio tonight now to discuss his comments from last night.

I am beginning to think AJ might be a bit of an attention whore...are his mom and wife rubbing off on him?

I agree. I don't see what is the big problem. Apparently we're trying to compete with LSU for "Most sensitive and easy to give up" fanbase.

On a serious note, I hope Saban sorts out our safeties. Those guys were horrible. So many busted coverages. Not just in this game either. Happened against WV and even Florida, but Driskel sucks.

He needs to let our offense roam freely with how many plays our dbs bust.

Armageddon is coming. I just agreed with every word you said.

I would have been more okay with the loss had we tried to open it up even if it would have potentially led to more turnovers.

There is something that is communicated to your offense, intentionally or not, when you choose to play conservatively. It says, "I don't trust you enough to not screw this up." Talk about a confidence killer. Fowler in his interview said they were playing not to lose and to just barely escape with a win. Not exactly a MTAQ mentality.

Nope. Saw this last night on Twitter, everyone misinterpreting what he said.

The hate some of y'all developed for him after everything he gave UA is sickening.

Good. With all the idiots trying to twist what he said, he should shut them up.

I never had a problem with you before. Even before the Florida game when you were heavily supporting Coker and I was heavily supporting Sims.

We had a problem the minute I saw you say our season is over, we should give up, we're going to the capital one bowl. I just can't get with that.

I agree here. At least go for it, part of me believes we can win out simply because I don't think we even gave our best offensive effort/calls. I truly believe we played overly conservative and I think whenever we do that and the defense doesn't play well, then still have turnovers, penalties, mistakes.. we usually lose.

We had those mistakes against a good Florida defense, difference was we had them so rattled they couldn't feel their feet. Instead of us trying to rattle Ole Miss, we played into their hands letting their defense stay comfortable. They came out at half-time and completely rattled us and the result mad us all mad.

I agree with this as well. People say it was the Drake injury, but I ask them to re-watch the beginning of the game again. We came out with the pomp and flare, started off with a big play then just fizzled, specifically due to drop balls but more due to us being extra conservative.

The minute we saw them come out and gun for us Saban, who has seen this movie before should have turned to Lane Kiffin and said "win me this damn game". We should have retorted fire for fire. We're already making mistakes! Might as well go big.

AJ McCarron Questions the Playcalling on Saturday
AJ is entitled to express his opinion. Many former players are doing in so why is there a problem with AJ doing it?

Ask Kellen Williams. Just called in to Packer and Savage on Sirius about 30 minutes ago calling AJ out for doing it.

Kellen Williams did nothing relevant while he was here. He should learn some respect.

What if we hated him while he was here and him acting like an attention whore isn't surprising as all?
