Preseason and earlier rankings should not factor into new rankings. You go with what you see on the field week to week. Preseason perceptions can be wildly inaccurate. Wins/losses shouldn't determine how much you drop/rise, each week you should completely re-rank the top 25 based off SOS, quality, and record.
Glad the CFP committee isn't releasing rankings till late October. You need 7 or 8 weeks to see where teams are.
