Coming to St. Simons the weekend of 10/17 for a wedding. Looking for a place to stay that sleeps 7/8 and near all the restaurants, shops, etc. Don't want to break the bank cause I really don't even want to be there. Any suggestions?

Can't help you with lodging but you need to hit up Edawg and book a charter. Bulls reds should be up by then, you won't regret it

Probably won't have time. Driving down Friday for rehersal (daughter singing in wedding) with the whole family. Family time Sat. morning, college football Saturday afternoon, wedding Saturday night. Head home Sunday.

Sounds shitty. I'd look at vrbo, you should be able to find something rather easy. If you want to pinch pennies and don't mind the drive Jekyll would probably be a good bit cheaper.

Live on St Simons on and off so I know the area. I would suggest The Village Inn & Pub. I don't know the cost but I don't see it being nearly as expensive as the resorts and it's a little bit more chill than your typical Best Western.
The place is in the Village which is the south end of the island where the pier, many of the churches and resutrants, the beaches, and most of the bars are there. The Inn itself does have a pub that often has live music and plenty of people come in just to chill with stiff drinks. It's a pretty good place to have a drink. I'm also certain it's close to where y'all will be holding the wedding because all weddings are usually near that area.

Thanks Spunk. Not looking forward to the trip. My 20 year old daughter is singing and the girl getting married is a close family friend so I have to go. How far is Jekyll from SSI?

Try the Village Inn. Their rates drop in the fall. There's also a Hampton not too far from downtown. Eat at Sal's Pizzeria and Southern Soul BBQ.

15 min ride down the causeways bro. From one island to the next.

If you eat at either, go early. Sal's can get very crowded and Southern Soul does seem to skimp on serving size the later in the night it gets. Both of those are in the 5:30 time slot. I don't like Sal's pizza that much (it's soggy) but they have the best specials around town.
Nazarro's is probably our favorite overall. It's pretty $$$$ but it's really good.

The tourist season is gone at this point on ssi. Push your luck with vrbo or hodnett cooper for a good price. I did ac work on the island for 5 years before i moved to tennessee. I can tell ya point blank the cleanest kitchens on the island and the ones you dont want to eat at.

Thanks, I will check it out.

I saw vrbo and Hodnet Cooper when I started searching. I will probably go with one of those two. Village Inn doesn't have anything big enough for all of us.

Nazzaros is ok. Mullett bay is the cleanest kitchen overall. Blackwater grill is good in redfern and was featured on a foodie show. Southern will skimp you. Id make the drive to skippers if you want seafood. You can watch the boats unload what youre gonna eat sometimes.

Iguanas fried shrimp is pretty frickin awesome. Great place to grab a drink too. To bad the wedding isn't two weeks later, that's when the magic happens.
Sadly, probably won't happen for me this year.

Cooper does alot. Sand dollar properties has a bunch too and may be better rates for stuff around goulds and masengail park east beach etc....

Also check out the Ocean Inn and Suites or St Simons Inn by the Lighthouse.
Both are near the pier. The pier has restaurants, a few stores, entertainment, bike rentals, and a few bars.
You'll have to drive to "the Village" aka The redfern village. It has a good collection of pro dawg bars there.

Just fyi, if anyone is headed to Jekyll, my wife is the sales director for a hotel here and if she has availability, she'll give a discount if you PM me first. Shes a Nole but she shares our hatred for the Jorts.
