I'd rather you and everyone else yell also in the direction of the field, that's much louder on the field than being a dick with the cowbell.

You see, the cowbell rang upwards projects sound to where? Above? that's not where the action is at. The sky isn't where we need sound, it's on the ground..So when everyone yells it's a much louder place.


However, I don't think we'll have to worry about any of this because that new expansion has helped us out tremendously sound-wise.

While your acoustical arguments may be valid the bigger issue is "home field" advantage for the non ordinary variance from the norm. Look at other sporting events / venues and the underlying benefit they gain:

Africa with the Vuvuzelas.
Vanderbilt basketball with their unique basketball court setup.
Boise State and their Smurf Turf.
Duke basketball with their 6th, 7th, and 8th man in Cameron Indoor (the refs for those never attending a game there)
Ohio State football playing so many punching bag schools in the state with no home and homes
All that cash flowing through Southern California players hands.

This is America by god and let freedom ring!
Moar cowbell.
