Whew. Thank goodness we're keeping an eye on them. I'd hate for them to get out of sight.

He/she had been here for 6 days before seeking treatment-but only a "handful of family members and others" might have been exposed.

Extrapolate that out.

Even if they say it's not transmissible if the infected person is not exhibiting symptoms, that's 4 days where he could have exposed others.
