Very random scheduling in the SEC until 1972. LSU and Auburn went from 1942 to 1969 without playing.A lot of series records in the SEC prior to the 1970's don't make a lot of sense.
LSU did not play Auburn or UGA a lot, but for some reason got Kentucky and Florida.

That's when we played Defense
Also, it gets lost in the misery but the 2012 game at Jordan Hare was the best game Auburn played the entire season. I don't know what it is, but Auburn always shows up for LSU and vice versa. Think there's a lot of mutual respect between the programs players and fans.
I enjoy this game more than the Iron Bowl or DSOR because I actually like LSU. I think this is Auburn's true "friendly" rival *Now that we no longer play UF or Tennessee

It blew me away that Gameday decided to cover the ole miss/bama game. This is easily one of the best rivalries in the country. Reading the OP brought back a lot of good (and bad) memories

A lot of those post-1992 rivalries.
Auburn used to play Tennessee and Florida every year and didn't play LSU much.
Alabama almost always played State, Tennessee, Vandy, Auburn and LSU with UGA and Ole Miss sprinkled in.
Alabama to this day has play Georgia Tech more than Kentucky or Florida.

How can you forget the 2006 Game? AKA "Grand Theft Auburn"...

The 1997 game was AMAZING.
Dameyune Craig threw for 342 yards...
Cecil "The Peeping Diesel" Collins ran for 232..
Auburn won 31-28 on a last minute TD run from Rusty Williams.
