I agree.

All are really good coaches. Not all elite, but all are really good.

And I think Mullen is a damn good coach that does really well with the talent he gets. Since hes been at Miss St their average finish in recruiting in the SEC is 10th-11th... out of the 14 teams in the SEC. His best year in recruiting was his first year there and they finished 8th in the SEC. Thats their BEST finish in the SEC. LSUs WORST finish in recrutiing in the SEC during that time span in 5th. And Im sure Bama hasnt been lower than that either.

And dont sit there and say "Hes not a good coach because he struggles in recruiting" or whatever. Miss St might be the hardest school to recruit from in the SEC outside of Vandy. It has 1 of the lowest, if not the lowest, athletic budgets. And, no offense to Miss St people, but its hard to get recruits to go to school in Starkville.

That tells me 2 things.... Mullen either does a damn good job at recruiting and finds some underrated / unheralded gems in recruiting. Or he does a damn good job developing talent. I personally think its a combination of both.

The knock on Mullen is that people had high expectations for Miss St right when he was hired and it took a little longer than people thought for them to take that next step and actually have aspirations and expectations for their football team. For some reason, people thought he would make Miss St a legit SEC team overnight. Thats really hard to happen at any school, and even harder at Miss St. It took a little longer than people origianlly thought when he was hired, but Mullen has built a very solid program at Miss St and has a really good football team now.
