The argument could be made (depending on the metrics used) that Alabama is the most successful and decorated program in the history of college football. Now, while you'll see some of our fans trumpeting that shite for all the world to hear as if anyone gives a shite, not all of us are inclined to go around doing that.

I will give Bama fans credit. Many of yall are INCREDIBLY not insecure, unlike anything in college football. Yall will be quick to compliment a competitor and call it like it is. Heck, yall are more likely to buy our sleeping giant bit (which BTW is all we ever want, to be considered the next Florida or LSU) which the rest of the SEC West won't accept.

But I feel that level of insecurity is a LUXURY cyde. It really is. Because deep down yall know that no matter how bad it gets today, yall will still be one of the top football program alltime. Most teams don't have that luxury:

-The pigs lose Petrino and overnight they go from a SEC competitor to being a joke at the bottom of the west.

-LSU loses Miles to Michigan and cheaps out on a replacement and BLAM they are irrelevant again like its 1999

-Auburn doesn't hit the lotto on Cam and they exist in a world where their top rival is dominating the BCS rather than sharing the top stage.

It happens even outside the SEC- if cops in Tallahassee were worth a shite, then FSU's last national title would have been around the same time as Tenns!! Point is, if you aren't a Bama then you are vulnerable. Even kings like Michigan fall.

For Aggies, this knife point is even sharper. Given our national irrelevancy for a decade, our brand went to shite. Our SEC move plus Johnny basically introduced our program to the national audience.

We can either build on that momentum, and not just in football wins but in any way we can, or we lose the opportunity and fall to the middle of the SEC pack like EVERY hater of ours expects will happen. The few years after Johnny are our real chance to make the leap from a mid-level team to being a real contender in college football. Now is when we set the mold for recruits and the audience that we will have to live with for a while.

So yes, we are THAT guy. The guy that makes you feel awkward, they guy who is rocking the boat.

The reason we are rocking the boat is because we don't want to take Oregon's path of building national respect over a decade. Heck they still aren't completely there yet, and they have had a level of success that is hard to sustain. Their path is hard and long.

We basically have been trying to cheat the system since the SEC move, jumping over islands like its the WW2 Pacific Theater. We are trying to go from sideshow to being the FSU of Texas in a very short amount of time and we are doing it by leveraging everything BUT football history since our program has a moderate amount of that.

So that means rocking the boat and pushing everyone out of their comfort zone who is used to college football being a gentlemanly and gradual sport won on the field. In the modern age its more about marketing campaigns than Xs and Os, and we want to leverage this paradigm shift to be the Next Big Thing.
