It's sure nice to have Sumlin making the decisions regarding QB

I'm posting this here, so that it doesn't come off as a troll.
I absolutely feel for LSU fans right now. They are all screaming for Brandon Harris, but Les Miles is sticking to Jennings. This is their second huge QB controversy. Hell, when they played in the national championship games, fans were screaming for Jarrett Lee at half time. That has to be the first team ever for a QB to make it to a national championship without full fan support. Of course, he really was a poor QB.
Sumlin has made the "surprising" QB pick the last two battles with Manziel beating out Showers, and then Kenny Hill beating out Kyle Allen this year. And both times, the decision has been completely vindicated. Kevin Sumlin doesn't play favorites. He plays the guy who he believes will win us games. I love that.

Not everyone was surprised by the QB choices, but I'm assuming that's what you meant when you added quotation marks. Either way, yes I understand what you're saying. Interestingly enough I think Sumlin really just looks for a proven winner at the HS level that has experience in our kind of system. Most of the intangibles come along with those criteria.

Yup, Sumlin basically said as much in his press conference this week, in fact.

It's funny what happens when you don't overthink recruiting. I don't think Sumlin is looking for guys who will be future NFL all-pros. I don't think he's not looking for them either though. His biggest concern is finding a guy who can succeed in his offense.

Kyler Murray is going to rape and pillage this conference in several years. It's going to be a bloodbath.

Agreed. It will be interesting how Sumlin Spavital work with him. He definitely has some Johnny in him in that he takes some risks. His film has some throws that will be interceptions in college.

I was going to watch that and the pulse at lunch today. It's easy to see when you look at guys like Kenny, Kyle, and Kyler because they all had success in their systems. Kyle is the least familiar with the no huddle so that was a bit of a stretch but you can see why Kenny is the guy when you listen to how much they talked about his experience in no huddle at HS as a reason he was chosen as starter.

For them it goes beyond just the personnel at QB. Their offense is outdated and they do so many different things it's hard for them to establish an identity. I don't think they're really putting their QBs in a position to succeed

Agreed. I really don't see a specific method with the LSU offense, other than run when you should pass and pass when you should run.
Bama has built a play-action offense very well. We have the spread HUNH air raid with great running backs. Auburn does the HUNH spread option. Arky copies Bama for the most part. Florida counts on fumble recoveries and pick-sixes.
LSU does..... who knows?
