I applaud the sentiment. And after further review - the stomping appears intentional, and therefore deserves discipline.
However, I don't feel it was just a selfish act. If you rewatch the game, Day clearly sees an LSU player try to bend the MSU player in half after he was tackled. It was intentional and probably out of frustration. Could have seriously broken the kids back. I think seeing this this triggered a retaliation/ anger response from Day. Not condoning it, but adding some context...
