I agree with this but you can't be surprised that fanatics, aka fans, suspend the ability to draw rational fact based opinions about their own team and conversely rapidly jump to conclusions about other teams.

Day got a fair suspension. In the future, I'm sure he'll be more careful about where his feet accidentally land.

We haven't heard from anyone at MSU yet other than Day so it seems a little premature to jump to conclusions about what Mullen or anyone else at MSU was going to do, if anything, had Slive not acted first.

Haven't read this entire thread, but did notice an article stating MSU coach thinks suspension is unfair. So it seems the bad behavior is condoned. This only makes the OP point even more relevant.
